The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit held earlier this month focused on the need for a commercial space strategy amongst the 32 allies. This strategy plans to focus both on improving space situational awareness and on improving the cyber defense posture of commercial assets.
The details of this plan have yet to be published but it will interesting to see how NATO plans to enforce defense measures on their commercial assets. Are these space cyber concerns only introduced on the under-development space satellites? What is being done to address the concerns with legacy systems? How will ground segments that talk to the less secure legacy systems and hopefully more strictly secure newer systems be handled?
