The Space Force announced a new award in their Tactically Responsive Space program. This new optical imaging payload will help satisfy a core objective of the program, to inspect and characterize threats like anti-satellite weapons and other on orbit threats to US military and commercial satellites in the GEO belt. The imaging payload includes a telescope, high resolution camera, advance processing electronics and proprietary software.1
The first pillar in the Sparta attack analysis is Reconnaissance, the Space Force adding a on orbit imaging payload to their capabilities can help assist in learning more about other spacecraft. Some of the techniques in the Reconnaissance pillar this new spacecraft payload can execute are Gather Spacecraft Design Information, Gather Spacecraft Descriptors, Monitor for Safe-Mode Indicators, and Gather Mission Information.2
