A recent article appearing in Outlook India talks about how researchers in China are exploring the effects of nuclear explosions in space. This line of research is considered key in neutralizing adversaries in space. This is interesting because Starlink, a private entity, is now establishing its presence as a strong space organization. Starlink’s services are being utilized by Ukrainian forces for situational awareness in the war against Russia.

Many times in the past, oppressive regimes have tried to counter uprisings and protests in their subregions by cutting off all connectivity, internet, telephone etc. In many countries, the infrastructure for providing these services is controlled largely by the government. It will be interesting to see in the future if such oppressive regimes will actually attack these private companies that now can provide such infrastructure.
